AJ Khubani founded TeleBrands Corporation in 1983 during his senior year of college with his life-savings of $20,000. The company is now thriving with over a billion dollars a year in gross retail sales with such well-known hit products as PedEgg, Hurricane Spin Mop, Pocket Hose, the Dump book series, and many more! In his early years, Khubani developed a strong foundation in direct response marketing by writing copy and selling his products through mail order ads placed in national magazines and newspapers. By 1987, he expanded his talent for finding and marketing products to direct response television commercials and launching the, now iconic, Ambervision sunglasses. But the largest growth of the business came after 1988 when Telebrands started to sell its hit products to retail chains. AJ is credited with designing the famous, red “As Seen on TV” logo that was used for the very first time in history on the Ambervision retail package. Starting in 1990, TeleBrands began a campaign to persuade every major retail chain in the country to create a new “As Seen On TV” department and to assign a single buyer to the category. As a result of this effort, “As Seen On TV” departments at retail chains are the single largest channel of distribution and profit center for DRTV companies today. These departments have allowed most of today’s successful DRTV companies to remain profitable even though direct-to-consumer television profits have evaporated. Today, TeleBrands remains the category leader at every major retailer in the country including accounts like Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Walgreens, CVS, Rite-Aid, Dollar General, and over 100 countries around the globe.
AJ Khubani will present Keynote: The Legends of Direct Response on October 8, 12:00 PM-1:00 PM.

A career in power tools and accessories is every guy’s dream. The only problem is Rhonda Tate is not a guy. Rhonda is the vice president of direct response for RW Direct, a subsidiary of Positec Tool Group in Charlotte, N.C. So what is it about the power tool world that’s kept this gal going for nearly two decades? From her 1996 start at Vermont American (now Robert Bosch Tool Corp) working on Latin American accounts, to Positec Tool Corp in 2005, she says the tide turned in 2007 when Positec launched the long-form WORX GT cordless grass trimmer infomercial. She went from doing a Google search on the definition of ‘DRTV’ in 2006 to sporadically popping up as reference points in those very Google searches in recent years. Rhonda has solidly paved Positec’s direct response operational path with success in multiple long-form WORX and Rockwell infomercials. During the week, she runs the Omni-channel Charlotte based Customer Contact Center and on the weekends, she enjoys doing DIY projects with her WORX and Rockwell tools. Rhonda earned a B.A. in Spanish and Communications in 1995 and an M.B.A. in international business in 2001.
Rhonda Tate will present Big Data's Secret Sauce on October 8, 1:15PM-2:15PM.

Katie Williams is one of the pioneers of the infomercial and home shopping industry and one of the foremost experts in Direct Response marketing, with 27 years of experience in international and domestic direct marketing. Katie got her start by overseeing marketing for Beckley Group, the first infomercial leader. Realizing the power of infomercial marketing, she started her own DRTV ad agency, Williams Worldwide, Inc., in 1987. The agency was successful from the beginning, and became the leader in the television response industry. Williams Worldwide bought DRTV media and created campaigns for an impressive roster of clients, including Philips Consumer Electronics, The Los Angeles Times, Hoover, Hanes, Warner Music, Quaker State, Microsoft, Citibank, QVC, Home Shopping Network, Toshiba, Goodtimes, Ronco, Nordic Track, and Visa. The company was the recognized expert in all areas of DRTV – especially media and marketing. Soon after, Katie seized the opportunity of introducing and applying these techniques in foreign markets, where cross-border DRTV was non-existent. In 1992, she expanded her company globally and created Williams Worldwide Television (WWTV), an international direct response marketing company. WWTV was the first to air infomercials on some of the most powerful stations in Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Belgium, Ireland and other countries and forged long-standing relationships with retail powerhouses in all of these markets. For over 15 years now, WWTV has brought top products to the international arena. In early 1999, Katie sold her domestic advertising company, Williams Worldwide, and retained the international company, Williams Worldwide Television until its sale in 2005. From 2005 to 2010 she provided C-level consulting to senior management in the direct marketing industry. Since 2010, she has served as president of Direct Response Marketing for Ideal Living Management.
